Superman: Legacy finds its Lex Luthor in Nicholas Hoult

The news of Nicholas Hoult nabbing the role of Lex Luthor in James Gunn's upcoming Superman Legacy has got everyone buzzing! Among all the chatter about María Gabriela de Faría joining as The Engineer, let's not overlook how Hoult landed the part of Lex Luthor, especially during the SAG-AFTRA strike. It seems his previous work with Warner Bros. in 'Juror No. 2' caught their eye.

Here's an interesting tidbit: Hoult actually auditioned for Superman in the same movie but didn't make the cut. And get this, he also tried out for Batman in 'The Batman,' but that role went to Robert Pattinson. Now, teaming up with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, David Corenswet will be our Superman in this new story.

Over the years, big names like Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg have portrayed Lex Luthor in Superman movies. James Gunn took his time with auditions and eventually settled on Corenswet and Brosnahan for these crucial roles.

'Superman: Legacy' is set to hit theaters worldwide on July 11, 2025, and it's a big part of Warner Bros.' superhero movie plans, as Gunn and producer Peter Safran outlined earlier this year.

As we gear up for this release, fans can't wait to see how Nicholas Hoult will bring the iconic villain Lex Luthor to life in this new chapter of Superman's story on the big screen.
